Coffee vs. Matcha - Why You Should Make The Switch
Okay this may be a hot take but….. Here’s why I made the switch from coffee to matcha and why you should too!
Reason #1 — Anxiety
Anxiety is a common side effect of caffeinated beverages and something I would struggle with quite often. Most times after a coffee, my hands would begin to shake and I would feel uneasy. I found out that Matcha contains L-theanine, an amino acid that helps reduce stress by increasing alpha waves in the brain. L-theanine also helps increase focus and reduce tiredness much like caffeine.
Reason #2 — Digestion
Going off the caffeine and anxiety reason, Matcha has helped improve my digestion, unlike coffee. When I would drink coffee, my stomach would instantly hurt and I would be in pain for hours. With Matcha, I have no stomach pain and the caffeine is at just the right amount to keep me settled.
Reason #3 — Antioxidants
Matcha is extremely high in antioxidants which are great to help fight off diseases. It is full of flavonoids, polyphenols, and catechins which are linked to cancer prevention.
Reason #4 — Skin
Antioxidants are not only good for disease prevention but also your skin! Matcha has seriously helped clear up my skin and reduce its inflammation. It also contains antibacterial and anti-aging properties which I love!
Reason #5 — Better Breath
Lastly, better breath and teeth! Ugh coffee breath is awful and even worse than that is coffee stained teeth. Luckily with Matcha, it does not stain your teeth and it actually fights off the bacteria that causes plaque.
So… I’m not saying you have to switch from coffee to matcha, but as a past-avid coffee drinker, I can say there are definitely many reasons why it may be worth it to make the switch!
