3 Ways To Start Becoming A Morning Person

If you told me at age 18 that I would become a morning person, I would’ve laughed in your face! Back then, I was always out late and sleeping till noon every chance I got, especially in college. Lately, I’ve made it a goal to become a morning person and within the last 5 years, I think I confidently say I have accomplished that goal. If you are feeling like you need to be more of a morning person - here are 3 of my tips!

1. Get out of bed right after you wake up

I know it’s tempting to stay in bed and scroll through social media right when you wake up, but trust me getting out of bed right away will jump start your morning. I found that this not only helps me feel more awake in the morning but also helps boost my productivity.

An important part of a productive morning for me is having a routine. I will shut off my alarm, go straight into the bathroom and brush my teeth, wash my face and put my contacts in. Next, I come back to my room, sit at my vanity and finish off my skincare routine. Completing this ritual everyday helps me to feel refreshed and prepared for the day ahead!

2. Open your windows as soon as you wake up

My second tip has been a recent change I’ve made and I am so happy with the results. The sun can have so much power over us including how it affects our moods. Think about how you feel waking up on a cold, dark and rainy day, when the sun is bright and shining, you almost feel the exact opposite. Studies have shown that bright morning light exposure has been effective against insomnia as well as regulating melatonin and serotonin levels.

Just like plants need the sun to survive, humans do too! That’s why after I wake up and I sit down to complete my skincare routine, I open all the windows in my room and let the sun hit my face for several seconds. This not only helps me to feel more awake but it also brings up my mood significantly.

3. Use a ice roller / chilled facial roller

My last tip is one that is always a part of my morning skincare routine - using an ice roller or chilled facial roller!
